Online support Adults & Couples English & Spanish

Where reconnection begins

You are seen here.
And you are already more than what this moment allows you to see.

A place to return
to yourself, with support.

Contigo, meaning "with you" in Spanish, was born from a simple truth: we are not meant to navigate our inner world alone. Whether you carry grief, confusion, relational pain, or simply a quiet sense of disconnection, this work offers a space to slow down, listen inward, and begin to understand the patterns shaping your life.

This is not a space for correction or diagnostic labels. It is a space for accompaniment: warm, grounded, and genuinely open to who you are and what matters most to you.

Your cultural background, your language, your spiritual or existential world: these are not obstacles. They are part of who you are, and they are welcome here.

With care, always

Francisco Hurtado

Clinical Psychologist · Ecuador-licensed Psychotherapist

I became a therapist because I kept noticing something.

People arrive carrying so much. And underneath all of it, almost without exception, something alive. Something that hasn't given up, even when they have. I wanted to be in the room where that gets seen. Not to fix or label it, but to witness it, and to sit with someone long enough that they begin to see it too.

I work with adults and couples who are, in some way, just existing. Feeling the weight of things they can't quite name: anxiety that won't settle, a distance from themselves they don't know how to close, the accumulated weight of what their culture and history has handed them to hold. They arrive sometimes having already tried. Not sure whether to trust this. That's fine. We start there.

My approach is integrative and humanistic, drawing on CBT, psychodynamic sensitivity, humanistic and existential psychology, and deep attentiveness to the relational and cultural patterns that shape each person's inner life. I don't work from diagnostic labels or standardised measurements. I work from curiosity and genuine presence. What I offer is not a map to where you should go. More like holding a light while you find your own way, and showing you a door you may not have seen.

Born in Ecuador, I lived in Finland and now make my home in Germany with my partner. I work in English and Spanish. Living between cultures has given me something no training could: a deep, embodied understanding of what it means to rebuild yourself, again and again, and find that each time there is more of you, not less.

The work

The approaches that inform my work

No single framework holds a person's whole truth. What follows is how I think about the work, and the different lenses I draw on. You don't need to choose one before we begin. That's something we explore together.

For Ecuador residents, these approaches may be part of psychotherapy. For clients outside Ecuador, they inform coaching, counselling, and mentoring, not regulated psychotherapy or medical treatment.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Thoughts and patterns

CBT taught me how to listen to the relationship between what we think, what we feel, and what we do. These three are always in conversation with each other, shaping the way we move through the world and the stories we tell ourselves about who we are.

In practice, this means paying close attention to the patterns: the automatic thoughts that arrive before we can question them, the behaviours that follow, the emotions underneath. Not to judge them, but to understand them. When we see a pattern clearly, we recover the ability to choose differently.

"You are not your thoughts. But your thoughts are shaping everything. And they can change."
Psychodynamic Therapy Depth and roots

Psychodynamic work listens for what isn't being said. The history that lives in the body. The relational patterns that repeat. The parts of ourselves we learned, early on, to keep hidden.

This approach takes time, and it asks for genuine curiosity about your inner life: your dreams, your relationships, the way certain situations always seem to unfold in familiar ways. It's slow, careful work. And it reaches places that the surface cannot.

"What we don't bring into consciousness, we live out as fate."
Humanistic Psychology Presence and worth

Humanistic psychology is the foundation of how I show up in the room. It begins with a simple conviction: that every person carries within them the capacity for growth, and that the role of the therapist is not to direct that growth but to create the conditions where it becomes possible.

That means genuine warmth, unconditional acceptance, and the absence of judgement. Not as techniques, but as a way of being. The working relationship itself becomes part of the healing.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."

Carl Rogers

Existential Psychology Meaning and freedom

Existential psychology asks the questions that don't have easy answers. What does my life mean? What am I here for? How do I live with uncertainty, with loss, with the knowledge that things end?

Rather than treating these as problems to solve, we treat them as the terrain of a fully human life. Anxiety, in this framework, is not always something to remove. Sometimes it is a signal that you are standing at a threshold, and the task is to understand what it is asking of you.

"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response."

Viktor Frankl

Integrative Approach The whole person

In practice, I don't work from a single framework. I work from the person in front of me. Each session is shaped by what you bring, what you need, and where you are in your process. The approaches above are lenses, not rules.

Integrative therapy means holding all of this lightly, and following what actually serves you, rather than what fits neatly into a category. The goal is never theoretical correctness. The goal is genuine movement in your life.

You don't need to know which approach is right for you before reaching out. In the free 15-minute first conversation and in our first session, we explore together what feels most useful. The work shapes itself around you, not the other way around.
